PKU-LSE Double Master’s Degree in International Affairs
2017 Entry
About the Program
Organized jointly by Peking University and London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) since 2006, this two-year full-time double master’s degree program offers an outstanding opportunity for graduate students and young professionals. The first year is spent at the School of International Studies at Peking University, studying the international relations of China and the Asia Pacific region. The second year is spent at LSE, studying the theory and history of global international relations. The program offers the following benefits:

For 2017 entry, applications must be completed (all supporting documents received) by February 28, 2017.
2. All applicants from the mainland of People's Republic of China who do not have dual citizenship (ie do not hold a second passport) must either have the recommendation eligibility to the SIS (保研) or pass the National Entrance Examination for Postgraduate students in China (考研).
3. Applicants holding identity cards from Macau, Hong Kong, or Taiwan do not need to take the National Entrance Examination, but must register with PKU Graduate School: http://grs.pku.edu.cn/zsxx/gat/# by December 15, 2016. Applicants need to indicate this program in both online and hard copy of application materials, as well as on the cover of application materials posted to designated office.
4. All non-PRC students, upon accepting the offer, must go to the PKU online application (pre-registration) system (http://www.studyatpku.com/ ), fill in the PKU form, pay the pre-registration fee CNY 400 online by 24 April, 2017, then print out and sign the form and, together with TWO passport size photos and a copy of the passport page with name, post it to Ms. XUE Yanfeng, Program Officer, B101, School of International Studies, Peking University, No.5 Yiheyuan Road, 100871, Beijing China. Tel:86-10-62759199, Fax:86-10-62758954. Unless otherwise required, PKU needs to receive this package by 5th May, 2017. If you fail to complete the above mentioned registration with PKU and mail the required documents before the deadline, you will not be able to be enrolled by PKU for the year of 2017.
Review
All applications will be reviewed by joint admission panel.
For applicants from Mainland China, upon meeting the eligibility of applying to this program, will take the written test arranged by SIS, and both written test and interview arranged by the joint committee from both LSE and PKU.
For international applicants and those from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, should an interview be necessary, as part of the overall application, then it will be arranged (via phone or SKYPE).
Admission
For Joint admission notification will be sent by LSE on behalf of both institutions by the end of May. An official PKU admission letter and visa form (for international students) will be sent by early July.
Except in special circumstances (for example illness or bereavement,) we do not allow entry deferrals. Candidates who have to withdraw are welcome to reapply in the following year.
Tuition Fee and Funding
For 2017 entry, the tuition fee for year one at PKU is 95,000 RMB. The tuition fee for year 2 at LSE, please visit http://www.lse.ac.uk/study/graduate/taughtProgrammes2017/LSE-PKUDoubleMScDegreeInInternationalAffairs.aspx . There are scholarships available at both institutions for students on the double degree program.
The Non-PRC students can apply to the Chinese Government Scholarship program for the year one study at PKU. Information is provided by the Chinese Scholarship Council (http://www.csc.edu.cn) and the Chinese Embassy of the student’s country of origin. The CGS will provide the awardees with a monthly living stipend and assistance with accommodation arrangement. The PKU tuition fee will be partly covered by the CGS (students are expected to make up for the difference by other means).
All Students will be eligible to be awarded by the designated scholarship or financial aid based on the overall performance during the year one at PKU. Since 2014, students who met the requirement were awarded RMB 2,000-10,000 respectively depending on different types of scholarship or financial aid.
Degree Conferral
Upon successful completion of studies at both institutions, students will be conferred Master Degree of Law and Master Degree of Sciences by PKU and LSE respectively.
Careers
Graduates from the program have been employed all over the world in a wide variety of international organizations, multinational corporations, public entities, and the media sector. Many students have also advanced to doctoral research.
