About the Program
Organized jointly by Peking University and London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) since 2006, this two-year full-time double master’s degree program offers an outstanding opportunity for graduate students and young professionals. The first year is spent at the School of International Studies at Peking University, studying the international relations of China and the Asia Pacific region. The second year is spent at LSE, studying the theory and history of global international relations. The program offers the following benefits:

At LSE

At PKU
(1) Applicants from the Mainland of the People's Republic of China(including those who received bachelor degree overseas) must either have the recommendation eligibility to the School of International Studies (the SIS)(保研) or pass the National Entrance Examination for Postgraduate Students in China (考研). Applicants need to choose the major International Relations (Contemporary International Relations) “国际关系专业,当代国际关系方向”, and indicate this program specifically in both online and hard copy versions of the application, as well as on the cover of the application package posted to the designated admission office.
(2) Applicants holding identity cards from Macau, Hong Kong, or Taiwan must pre-register with PKU Graduate School online at: https://admission.pku.edu.cn/applications/ before 12:00 noon, December 4, 2020(Beijing Time).Please see more information at: https://admission.pku.edu.cn/zsxx/gatzs/index.htm. Applicants need to choose the major International Relations (Contemporary International Relations) “国际关系专业,当代国际关系方向”, and indicate this program specifically in both online and hard copy versions of the application, as well as on the cover of the application package posted to the designated admission office. Note: Applicants who hold both foreign passports and identity cards from Macau, Hong Kong, or Taiwan must follow the procedures described above.
(3) All non-PRC students, only upon receiving an offer from LSE Admissions office, must go to the PKU online application (pre-registration) system (http://www.studyatpku.com/) fill in the PKU form and pay the pre-registration fee online by 12:00 midnight March 31, 2021 Beijing time.

Note:
*Residents of mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan who have emigrated to other countries and are applying for Peking University as international students must present valid passports or citizenship documents dating before April 30, 2015, along with proof of cancellation of Chinese nationality.
* English test should be taken after October 1, 2019. A student is exempt from English requirement if his/her first language is English or he/she has obtained a degree in an English-taught program in an English-speaking country after Sep. 1, 2016. All applicants shall keep their ID consistent in the whole process.
Review
All applications will be reviewed by a joint admissions panel.
For students from Mainland China who are eligible to apply for the program, they must take the written test arranged by the SIS, as well as the written test and the interview arranged by the LSE-PKU joint committee.
Students from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan must attend an interview in Beijing arranged by the SIS.
For international applicants, an interview will be arranged (via phone or Skype) if necessary.
Admission
The joint admissions notification will be sent by LSE on behalf of both institutions by the end of March. An official PKU admissions letter and visa form (for international students) will be sent from Peking University by early July of 2021.
Except in special circumstances (for example illness or bereavement), we do not allow entry deferrals. Candidates who have to withdraw are welcome to reapply in the following year.
Tuition Fee and Funding
For 2021 entry, the tuition fee for year one at PKU is RMB 95,000 yuan. The tuition fee for year 2 at LSE, please visit http://www.lse.ac.uk/study-at-lse/Graduate/Degree-programmes-2021/LSE-PKU-Double-MSc-Degree-in-International-Affairs . There are scholarships available at both institutions for students on the double degree program.
Non-PRC students can apply for the Chinese Government Scholarship for year one at PKU. The scholarship application should be directed to the Chinese Embassy or Consulate in the applicant’s home country. The application opens from November 2020 – April 2021 (varied for different countries). The CGS will provide the awardees with a monthly living stipend and assistance with accommodation arrangement. The PKU tuition fee will be partially covered by the CGS (students are expected to seek funding from other sources).
All Students will be eligible to apply for scholarship in year one at PKU. Since 2014, over 40 students were awarded RMB 2,000-10,000 respectively depending on their overall academic performance in year one at PKU.
Degree Conferral
Upon successful completion of studies at both institutions, students will be conferred Master Degree of Law and Master Degree of Sciences by PKU and LSE respectively.

Careers
Graduates from the program have been employed worldwide in a wide variety of international organizations, multinational corporations, public entities and the media sector. Many students have also advanced to doctoral research.
