The European project which has brought unprecedented peace, prosperity and democracy is being questioned. To the East, the European security order has been violated, while terrorism and violence plague North Africa and the Middle East, as well as Europe itself. François Godement
Prof. Godement is Director of ECFR’s Asia Programme and Senior Policy Fellow. He is also non-resident Senior Associate of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, D.C., and an external consultant for the Policy Planning Staff of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mr. Godement was also a long-time professor at France’s National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilisations. In 2005 he founded Asia Centre, an independent research centre on Asian issues.
He is the director of China Analysis, a quarterly analytical survey of Chinese news and debate published by ECFR. His recent publications include “Que veut la Chine? De Mao au capitalisme”, “China on Asia’s mind”, and “France’s ‘pivot’ to Asia”.
