PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY
Jennifer Morgan is the Executive Director of Greenpeace International. She shares leadership of that role with Bunny McDiarmid. Both took up the role in April 2016. In that role, she represents Greenpeace at global meetings such the World Economic Forum and global climate meetings, regularly speaks publicly in events and rallies around the world and manages, with McDiarmid, Greenpeace International.
Involved in climate change issues for over twenty years, Morgan has held a series of directorship roles of climate programmes at different non-governmental organisations including World Resources Institute (2009-2016); E3G (2006-2009) and WWF (1998-2006). In each of these organisations, she has been a leader of large global teams.
She has been cited in front-page articles in newspapers around the world on climate change and is regularly interviewed for radio and television programs globally and nationally. She has been Review Editor for the 5th Assessment Report of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). She currently serves on the Advisory Board to Grantham Institute on Climate and the Environment. Previously, she served on the German Council on Sustainable Development and was a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research. At Germanwatch's 20th anniversary celebration, Jennifer was named an honorary member of the organisation for her long-term commitment to international climate issues and the empowerment of civil society.
Morgan holds a Bachelor of Arts from Indiana University in Political Science and Germanic Studies, and a Master of Arts from the School of International Service at The American University in International Affairs. Jennifer is based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
Previous to Greenpeace, led World Resources Institute (WRI), E3G and Worldwide Fund for Nature Global Climate Change Programmes from 1998-2009. In those roles, built teams across cultures towards achieving outcomes, driving a global strategic vision in each organisation; led delegations to the UNFCCC negotiations; participated in national climate policy and political debates in many countries at the highest levels. Was a key driver to achieve the Paris Agreement outcome, working to build effective coalitions across government, NGOs, business and local government.
Published both at WRI and in various books and journals on global and national climate policy and politics. Review editor of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC’s) Fifth Assessment Report. Member of the German Chancellor’s Council for Sustainable Development up to 2016 and of the Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research Scientific Advisory Board.
Interviewed and quoted regularly in newspapers, television and radio programmes around the world. Strong social media presence on twitter and Facebook.
